News from the Police :

A new Sergeant has taken over the Safer Neighbourhood policing teams in New Mills, Gamesley and Hadfield.

Sgt. Jo Brett, who has been a police officer for more than 25 years, and has worked 20 of them in Derbyshire, started in the role in May.

She takes over from Greg McGill who has been promoted to temporary Inspector for the response teams in the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales.

Jo has worked has worked in the High Peak areas for most of her career, working in response roles, in the investigative teams and also in the public protection unit, which deals with domestic violence and child abuse cases.

Outside of work, Sgt Brett, who is married with two sons aged 15 and 17 and lives locally, enjoys reading, running and walking.

Sgt. Brett said: “Its early days so far and I’ve been busy getting to know the communities which my teams serve and finding out about the issues which concern them.

“My priorities are to continue the build on the great work the teams have already done in the area with the main focus on helping to achieve long term solutions to local concerns. We will continue to engage with residents, to gather intelligence and hope to continue to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime.”
