I was honoured to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph in Glossop this morning.
The year marks 100 years since the Cenotaph in both Glossop and Hadfield were unveiled and the Glossop Heritage Trust has a post sharing the story of the updates made to the Glossop Cenotaph in 1949 when the plaques were updated to show the name of those lost in world war 2.
It was great to see (as always) a huge attendance of folks especially the younger members of our community in the uniformed organisations paying respect to those who lost their lives in conflict.
On Friday the brief service on the 11th itself had the largest attendance I’ve seen in recent years and with this year marking 40 years since the Falklands War – it is more important than ever that we reflect and remember.
A huge thank you to everyone who made today’s Service, and Parade of Remembrance in Glossop and towns and villages across the High Peak possible.
